Dakshin Dinajpur or South Dinajpur is a leading district within West Bengal, made on 1st April, 1922, via the division of the former West Dinajpur District area. The headquarters of the district are Balurghat. The administrative sub-divisions of the district are Gangarampur and Balurghat. The population of the district stood at 2,000,000 people as of 2011. The area is part of the Malda Division with a total range of 2,162 square kilometers. There are many tourist landmarks here including Dhal Dighi, Gour Dighi, Bangarh, Sarongbari, Khanpur, Radha Gobindo Mandir, Kaldighi Park and many others. The coordinates of the area are 25.3715° N, 88.5565° E.
