Sheohar is an administrative district in Bihar, and the district headquarter. Spread over 443 square kilometres, it has 656,246 people, and it is mainly known for its cleanliness and greenery in the district. It has 890 females for every 1000 males in the district. The district is part of the Tirhut division and was carved from the Siramarhi district in 1994. It is mainly due to the efforts of Raghunath Jha, the then Union Minister. It is the second most populous district in Bihar after Sheikhpura.
It has Sitamarhi on its north and east, Champaran on its west and east and Muzaffarpur towards its south. Of the total population, 22.97% speak Hindi, 7.78% as their first language. However, the main dialect of the region is Bajjika.
