Jodhpur is the second-biggest city in Rajasthan. It was earlier the seat for Jodhpur State. Jodhpur was earlier the capital of the Kingdom of Marwar. Jodhpur covers a total area of 233.5 square kilometers and has a population of 1,056,191 people as of the year 2011. The languages spoken here include Sindhi, English, Hindi, Rajasthani, and Marwari. Leading educational institutions also include DPS Jodhpur, NIFT, JNVU, MBM Engineering College, FDDI, IIHT and many others. Leading hospitals here include the Medipulse Hospital, Suncity Hospital and Research Centre, and the Goyal Hospital and Research Centre. The Jodhpur Junction railway station is the main connectivity lifeline here along with the Jodhpur Airport.
