Following a recent expansion, many anticipate Chikkaballapur joining "Greater Bangalore." Chikkaballapura is how the city is referred to in Kannada, the local language. The Kannada word for "little" is "chikka," the word for the unit of measurement for grains is "balla," and the word for "town" is "Pura." As a result, it is a location where ancient people utilized fractional measures to determine the number of grains used in cooking.
