Badlapur is one of the cities in the Thane district and is also a part of the MMR or the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The city is popular among the people of Mumbai as a weekend picnic spot. During monsoon, people visit the city to witness the two major dams and several waterfalls. It has transformed into a major residential zone because of its proximity to Mumbai.
