Rudraprayag is both a town and municipality of the district in Uttarakhand. It is one of the Panch Prayag with a confluence at Alakananda, where the river joins with Mandakini. Kedarnath is just 86km from Rudraprayag. The district is at 30.28°N 78.98°E with an elevation of 895 metres. But most parts of the district and Sangam have been severely damaged by the 2013 Uttarakhand floods. The district has 9,313 people, among which 5,240 are males, and 4,073 are females. Among these, 95.16% of the population practice Hinduism, while others practice Sikhism, Christianity and Islam. Infrastructure and Details Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is its closest option which is 183 km from the city. Rishikesh railway station is the best option to travel by train. It is a small junction without options to connect fast trains. To travel to major cities in India, one has to travel to Haridwar and Dehradun railway stations, which are 24km and 44 k, respectively, from Rishikesh. Rudraprayag is on National Highway NH 58, which easily connects Delhi with Mana Pass and Badrinath in Uttarakhand. Buses and vehicles from new Delhi to Badrinath will pass through Rudraprayag to reach Joshimath and go further north. The distance from Rudraprayag to Rishikesh is 141 kilometres. The district hospital is one of the best healthcare centres in this district. Chief Education Office, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, District Institute of Education and Training, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan and Kendriya Vidyalaya are among the best schools in the district. The list of colleges includes Government Degree College, Anusuya Prasad Bahuguna Govt. P.G College, and Govt. Degree College Guptkashi.
