Rajpur Sonarpur is a major city and a dedicated municipality of the District of South Parganas in the State of West Bengal. The area is also within the KMDA (Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority). Rajpur and Sonarpur are two towns governed by the same authority. The twin towns have been merged under the municipality. The coordinates of the area are 22.4473° N, 88.3920° E. The total area covered by the municipality is 49.26 square kilometres. The elevation is 9 metres. The population in 2011 was mapped at 424,368. English and Bengali are the main languages spoken here. The Baruipur Subdivision is a semi-urban zone with elevation standing at 9 metres.

The area is clean and well maintained. The transportation service good in the locality. Cab, bus easily available metro station also nearby. The area is free from crime nowadays.
