Bhatapara is a well-known city cum Nagar Palika (Municipal Corporation) within the District of Baloda Bazar-Bhatapara in the Chhattisgarh State. The area was once in the Raipur District at the time of the British rule between 1854-1864. These areas came into the Bilaspur District from 1864 onwards. Bhatapara turned into a District from the year 1903 after the relocation of telegraph offices by British officers to this region. It became a Gram Panchayat after independence in 1949. The population of the area was 57,537 people as of the year 2011. The languages spoken here include Chhattisgarhi and Hindi. Bhatapara is famous for the Simaria Ghat Mela and other festivals along with its well-known mill. The coordinates of Bhatapara are 21.7371° N, 81.9473° E.
