Theni is a beautiful town located amidst the valley in Tamil Nadu and it lies at the Western Ghats’ foothills. It is also the headquarters of the District of Theni, lying approximately 70 km away from Madurai. It is famous for its mass-trading of cotton, garlic, grapes, cardamom, mango, bananas, and chilli. It is also home to the State’s second-biggest weekly market and also the fourth-biggest one in all of Southern India. It is also called Earth’s Hidden Paradise. The Theni Municipality governs the area which lies at an elevation of 300 meters. The population of the area was estimated at 202,100 people as of the year 2011. The coordinates of Theni are 10.009°N 77.47°E.
