Sonipat is a municipal corporation, and the district headquarter in the state of Haryana. It is under the national capital region, just 44km from New Delhi. It is located 214km southwest of Chandigarh. The Yamuna River is on the eastern boundary. The district has a total area of 2260 square kilometres. English is the dominant speaking language of the state.
The district is at 28.98°N 77.02°E, with a 278,149 population, 12985 females, and 148 364 males. Sonipat has 55,599 houses, whereas urban agglomeration has a population of 289,333.
