Jalgaon is a leading city in the Indian State of Maharashtra. It lies within the Northern part of the State and is the administrative headquarters for the Jalgaon District as well. It is often called the Banana City of India since it contributes 2/3rds of the production of bananas in the State of Maharashtra. The Girna River passes through the area. Jalgaon became part of Maharashtra in 1960. The total population of the city stood at 650,000 people as of the year 2011. The Jalgaon Municipal Corporation holds the responsibility for governance and administration in the area. Jalgaon has coordinates of 21.004°N 75.568°E. Some of the tourist landmarks here include the Gandhi Teerth which was set up in 2012. There are other destinations like the Maharishi Krishna Dvaipayana Vedvysa Temple, Mudhai Devi Temple, Patnadevi Temple, Changdeva Temple and may others.
