Eluru is a leading city and the headquarters of the District of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the State’s 14 municipal corporations and the headquarters of the Eluru Mandal in the Revenue Division of Eluru. The city is known for its hand-woven products and wool-pile carpets. The city had a population of 214,414 people as of the year 2011. It was founded on the 2nd century and was integrated in the year 1866 as a town. It also became a city on 9th April, 2005.
