Mira-Bhayandar, a city in the Thane district in Maharashtra, is located in the northern area of Salsette Island ahead of Vasai Creek. Its adjoining border is North Mumbai. It has a population of 814,655 (2011 Census) and as a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, it covers an area of around 79.4 km2. Its geographical coordinates are 19.29°N and 72.85°E. The official language is Marathi, while Hindi and Gujarati are also spoken here. Navi Mumbai in Karjat is (89 km) and Elephanta Island in Alibagh (119 km). The western side of the Mira Road has Salt pans and Mangroves. The climate of Mira Bhayandar is hot year-round with the dry season being humid. The temperature fluctuates from 66°F to 93°F.
