Lonavala is a leading hill station and municipal council within the District of Pune. It lies 64 km away from Pune and is 96 km away from Mumbai as well. It is famous for producing Chikki candy and is a leading railway point between the cities of Pune and Mumbai. The Mumbai-Bangalore Highway and Mumbai-Pune Expressway go through this area which also houses the INS Shivaji, the premier technical training establishment of the Indian Navy.
