Sivasagar, formerly known as Sibsagar, is one of the 34 districts in Assam, Northeast India. The administrative headquarters of this district is Sivasagar city. This particular district covers a total area of 2668 square km. Sivasagar comprises of two sub-divisions- Sivasagar and Nazira. It is bounded by the Brahmaputra River in the north, the Jhanji River to the west, the Charaideo district to the east, and Nagaland to the south. The coordinates of this district are 26°59’03.90” N to 94°37'53.07" E, and the official language is Assamese.
