Tarn Taran Sahib is a city located in the Mahja region of Punjab, in the northern part of India. It is its district headquarters and the municipal corporation. The Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib is a prominent Sikh still located in the middle of the city.
The district is between 31 0 05’, and 31 0 30’ 05 north latitude 74 0 30’ and 75 0 15’ 05“ east longitudes. The total area is 2449 square kilometres and shares boundaries with other districts. Some of them are Amritsar on the northern side, Pakistan towards the west, Kapurthala on the east, and Firozpur towards the south.
It has 130,587, with 51% as males and 49% females. The majority of the population, almost 89.1%, are Sikhs. 9.8% are Hindus, and 1.1% are Christians.
